In addition to its festive dimension, the National Culture Week (SNC) Bobo 2023, which takes place from April 29 to May 6, is an art, music and dance that highlights the cultural richness of the country.

One of the flagship events of the National Week of Culture (SNC) is the Grand Prix National des Arts et des Lettres (GPNAL), which will bring together artists from all 13 regions of Burkina Faso to present their creations.

It will take place in 5 main categories. The competition will showcase a variety of arts, ranging from performing arts to traditional sports, plastic arts and culinary arts.

The performing arts include two pools and are divided into nine disciplines. These are the adult pool which includes traditional dance, traditional instrumental music, popular choirs, the star of traditional song, choreographic creation, the orchestra and slam and the young pool which includes traditional dance and Ballet.

Plastic arts competitions consist mainly of painting, sculpture and Batik (fabric printing technique practiced in Burkina Faso).

For culinary art there are light dishes, heavy dishes, drinks and desserts.

In the Traditional sports category we have archery and traditional wrestling.

The literature category in French is made up of novels, short stories, poetry, drama, storytelling and literature in the national languages Moore, Dioula and Fulfulde.
