Sissili: An NGO offers equipment worth 50 million FCFA to the women of the RESIFA project

as part of the implementation of the project ‘The path to resilience and empowerment of women’, the NGO Helen Keller international, in collaboration with the Helmsley Charitable Trust Foundation, presented on Friday May 3, 2024, equipment worth 50 million FCFA to the beneficiaries of the said project.

through the project called the RESIFA project or Kana Kolu in Nuni language

To help groups of village savings and loan associations in income-generating activities (AGR), the NGO Helen Keller International (HKI) with the financial support of Léona M. and harry B. Helmsley charitable trust offered equipment worth 50 million FCFA to beneficiaries of the ‘The path to resilience and women’s empowerment’ project.

Made up of breeding, processing and soap production equipment, this donation from the RESIFA/Kana Kolu project will allow beneficiaries to develop their income-generating activities (IGA).

A total of 2,121 people, members of 43 village savings and loan associations from 29 villages in the province of Sis
sili in the Center-West region benefited from this first pilot phase of the project.

There are 1,631 women for the livestock sector, 322 for saponification and 168 for non-timber forest products (NTFP).

The representative of the beneficiaries, Mariata Benao expresses her joy and that of all the women for the material received.

‘The acquisition of this equipment will contribute to reducing women’s poverty and improving production within the framework of IGAs,’ she indicated. Mrs. Banao also asked their husbands to always accompany them in their wellness activities.

HKI country representative Georges Dimithe indicated that the project has a lifespan of 3 years and concerns the period from February 2022 to January 2025.

‘It is implemented in 100 villages in the 7 communes of the Sissili province, more precisely in the Léo health district,’ he maintained.

According to Mr. Dimithe, the Kana/Kolu project aims to sustainably improve the economic opportunities and resilience of women for better food and nutriti
onal security in the intervention villages.

He reassured everyone of the availability of his organization to support the communities, especially the women of Sissili, to reverse the trends of poverty and malnutrition by creating perspectives in terms of well-being and empowerment. .

The country representative of the NGO HKI praised the good collaboration between his organization and all development stakeholders in the province for their commitment in the fight against poverty and malnutrition.

He specified that the founder of the NGO noted that ‘the well-being of each person is linked to the well-being of all’, and therefore we must work more to bring more joy to communities.

The high commissioner of the Sissili province, Tewendé Isaac Sia, for his part, invited the beneficiaries to live up to the trust placed in them, through this support and accompaniment.

Mr. Sia finally expressed all the gratitude of the beneficiaries and the entire community to the NGO HKI for its support.
