Ouagadougou: A government delegation led by the Minister of State, Minister of Civil Service, Bassolma Bazié visited Léo on Thursday, July 29, 2024. This direct contact with the vital forces of the province of Sissili was an opportunity for the government team to gather the concerns of the population regarding the actions carried out in the fight against terrorism.
The government team was composed of the Minister of Civil Service, Labor and Social Protection, Bassolma Bazié, the Minister of Justice, Edasso Rodrigue Bayala and the Minister Delegate in charge of regional cooperation, Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré.
This exchange meeting allowed the delegation to learn about the concerns, suggestions and assessments of the populations as well as the challenges they face on a daily basis.
“Today we have come to give you the floor, to see how you see the conduct of the country and all the actions that we are carrying out and what you would like us to take into account more,” said the Minister of State, Bassolma Baz
ié.
The concerns of the active forces are summarized, among other things, in the poor quality of the various telecommunications networks, road infrastructures not allowing the combat forces to react in the event of an emergency at the desired locations and the training of monitoring structures.
The strengthening of security at the borders and the networking of the province in police and gendarmerie stations and the provision of surveillance drones to the province were also discussed by the province’s key players.
They also called on the government to have zero tolerance against the enemies of the people. For some, the death penalty must be imposed as a necessity in this fight against the terrorist Hydra.
The participants urged the State to strengthen security around institutions and to focus on intelligence. The members of the government exchanged in turn with administrative authorities, customary notables as well as the combat forces.
At the end of the meeting, food was handed over to the Defense and Se
curity Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the Sissili province by the government delegation.
