Sandbontenga: From September 6 to 8, 2025, Kaya, the capital of the Koulse region, will become a hub of cultural activity during the Regional Culture Week (SRC). This event will showcase local talents and select the region’s ambassadors for the Biennale of Culture, Bobo 2026. Artists and ensembles from the Sandbontenga province are intensively preparing despite facing several challenges.
According to Burkina Information Agency, a total of 145 artists from Sandbontenga will participate in the Kaya 2025 regional culture week. The edition has registered 14 entries in the performing arts, 11 in culinary arts, and one in plastic arts. Ahmed Ouedraogo, the provincial director of communication, culture, arts, and tourism in Sandbondtenga, attributes this unprecedented enthusiasm to the improved security situation. He believes that Kaya 2025 looks promising compared to previous editions.
Preparations are proceeding smoothly, as confirmed by the provincial director. “All the troops are working hard to provide quality services,” Ouedraogo stated. Awareness-raising visits are being conducted to ensure that competition rules are well understood and applied by all candidates. Sandbondtenga has set ambitious goals for this edition, aiming for victory in all disciplines. The director is confident that the artists are ready to represent the Koulse region at the 2026 Bobo Culture Biennale, thanks to intensive coaching and rigorous preparation.
Despite the excitement, financial difficulties persist, as noted by the provincial director. He urged the province’s residents, economic operators, and local development stakeholders to support the artists. “For our troops to proudly return with Bobo 2026 awards, the Kaya 2025 stage is crucial,” Ouedraogo emphasized. He called for the population’s massive participation in the cultural weekend and encouraged people of goodwill to support the troops in acquiring new equipment to enhance their stage competitiveness.
The SNC BOBO 2026 will take place from April 25 to May 2, 2026, under the theme ‘Culture, youth and transmission of social values’.
