Ouagadougou: Etoile filante de Ouagadougou (EFO), defending champion, qualified on Sunday evening for the quarter-finals of the Coupe du Faso (COFAS) by beating Sporting at the Ziniaré stadium Majestic club by the smallest of margins while the Electriciens of AS SONABEL fell against Vitesse FC with the same score of 1 to 0.
EFO, the Queen of stadiums, is truly a cup team. Winner last season of its 14th Coupe du Faso, it is still climbing the ranks this year. The ‘Blue and White’ (currently 6th in Ligue 1) brought down Majestic (3rd in the championship) at home thanks to a goal from Kader Sana in the 81st minute .
The Electricians of AS SONABEL went to be ‘electrocuted’ in Bobo-Dioulasso against Vitesse FC while ASFA-Y narrowly defeated the young team and leader of Ligue 2, Real du Faso (FRG). Already sure of moving up to Ligue 1 next season, Real du Faso held their own against the old lady. 2-2 after 90 minutes.
