Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of Ganzourgou Province, Ms. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, chaired the flag-raising ceremony on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in the department of Méguet. This ceremony, which was held in the prefecture, brought together the directors and heads of provincial services as well as the department’s key forces.
In her speech, the High Commissioner expressed her gratitude to the local authorities and participants for their warm welcome and their mobilization. She stressed the importance of these ceremonies of raising the colors, organized every month in the different provincial directorates and departments on a rotating basis. For her, this symbolic act has great significance because it recalls the meaning of patriotism, living together, and national unity.
She also addressed health issues, including the fight against malaria, which remains a major concern during this rainy season. Ms. Sorgho/Gouba stressed that the lack of hygiene and the stagnation of wastewater near homes promote the pro
liferation of mosquitoes, vectors of diseases such as malaria and dengue fever. She recalled the importance of seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) campaigns, organized each year to protect children aged 3 to 59 months. In this context, she urged the population to mobilize to support these health initiatives.
At the end of the ceremony, Ms. Sorgho/Gouba wanted to meet with the key players in Méguet to gather their concerns. Among the points raised, the deterioration of road infrastructure, the functioning of health centers, as well as the need for drilling were the main topics discussed. Support for VDPs and the need to strengthen their equipment were also points discussed.
In a national context marked by insecurity, the High Commissioner recalled the importance of unity and social cohesion. She urged the population to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious person to the competent authorities. Ms. Sorgho/Gouba also praised the courage and dedication of the fighting forces and reaffirmed the authorit
ies’ commitment to supporting efforts to defend the homeland.
This ceremony was an opportunity to reaffirm the attachment of the inhabitants of Méguet to republican values ??and to strengthen ties between the different components of society. The High Commissioner concluded her speech by calling for general mobilization to address the development and security challenges facing Ganzourgou province.
