In its annual report 2021, the DGAPR specified that this operation concerns in particular the new local prisons of Dakhla and Assilah inaugurated in 2021, bringing to six (06) the number of establishments equipped with these spaces. Parlors of the Ain Sebaa 1 local prison have been modernized with the creation of waiting, reception and visitors orientation areas.
The network of Radio “Idmaj” was renewed. It is the first experience of its kind in the Arab world and Africa that will be generalized nationwide to include other prisons.
Regarding the exceptional measures of exit, the report noted that the number of beneficiaries has not exceeded 12 during the year 2021, given the exceptional circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic, recalling in this sense the preventive measures taken in prisons.
Addressing family visits for the benefit of inmates during the pandemic crisis, the DGAPR reported a significant increase in the number of telephone calls made by prisoners with their families and a record decrease in prohibited products seized during visits.
In the same context, the General Delegation does not cease to take measures and refer to the competent authorities to maintain security and order in prisons, stressed the report, specifying that the number of cell phones seized has decreased significantly during the year 2021, to reach 101 cases, against 8,010 in 2017.
It also noted that a significant drop in the amount of money seized was observed in 2021, reaching 180 cases, against 753 cases in 2017.
As for drugs, the report revealed 789 seizures last year, compared to 2,042 in 2017, i.e. a significant drop of 61%.
