Ouagadougou: A popular cross-country race to launch the 6th edition of Africa’s Energy and Renewable Energy Week
The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries kicked off the activities of the 6th edition of the African Energy and Renewable Energy Week (SEERA) on Thursday, through the organization of a popular cross-country race. The official start of this sporting event was given by the ministry’s chief of staff, Salif Boussim, in front of the ministry’s offices. The runners then proceeded to Place de la Nation before returning to their starting point.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Salif Boussim emphasized the role of sport as a means of fostering social cohesion, fraternity, and solidarity, thus justifying the choice of a sporting activity to mark the official launch of SEERA. The Permanent Secretary for Local Content and Investment Promotion, Zephirin Zongo, highlighted that Africa Energy and Renewable Energy Week aims to position the energy sector as a core component of Burkina Faso’s industrial and agricultural advancement.
Under the theme “Agriculture-Energy-Water Nexus: Challenges and Opportunities”, the 6th edition of SEERA will take place from November 7 to 9, 2025, in the Ouaga 2000 conference hall. The event will be presided over by the Prime Minister, His Excellency Mr. Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo. Participants from several African countries and beyond are expected in Ouagadougou to deliberate on energy challenges and explore investment opportunities in the sector. The program includes several activities, notably panels, conferences, and exhibitions.
