Bale: Police put an end to the illegal occupation of the area around regional road 11 in Fara. The police of the municipality of Fara conducted awareness sessions for businesses set up illegally along the rights-of-way of regional road 11 crossing the city center of Fara.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Fara District Police Station conducted an awareness campaign aimed at road users near the Fara Central Market. The theme of the campaign was ‘Road Safety: Everyone’s Business.’ The campaign was aimed specifically at roadside traders.
Before these awareness-raising operations, the latter had been occupying the right-of-way of Regional Road 11, which passes in front of the market, obstructing traffic and often causing incidents. The police are on their second outing in the space of a week.
The awareness message focused on the highway code, solutions and alternatives to the relocation of businesses, and recommendations.
Those arrested on the spot, such as Ouedraogo Adara, a motorcycle and motorbike dealer, acknowledged the benefits of this awareness-raising activity, which, in his opinion, contributes to the safety of property and people. As a result, he pledged to act as a police liaison with his fellow traders.
Just like him, Mrs. Nikiema, a regular grain seller in front of the market who displayed her goods along the roadside, was of the same mind.
These outings by the local police have restored order around the main roads of the city of Fara. This is thus a mission accomplished for the police who, through their outing, call on users of public spaces to be civil and disciplined.
