Nigeria refutes plans to establish foreign military bases on its soil

The Nigerian government has denied that it is negotiating with foreign countries to establish military bases on its territory. This was reported by the Vanguard newspaper, referring to the Nigerian Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi.

‘We appeal to the public not to believe these lies,’ he declared, relayed by the newspaper. ‘The federal government does not negotiate with any foreign country. We have neither received nor considered any proposal on the establishment of a foreign military base in Nigeria. »

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) on Monday warned the government against the dangers of establishing foreign military bases on Nigerian territory. The newspaper points out that this warning refers to reports concerning proposals by the United States and France to establish military bases in Nigeria, which have sparked protests in political circles in the north of the country, notably within the New Nigeria People’s Party.
