This campaign aims to remind that vaccination is a key measure of primary health care, an indisputable human right and one of the best investments in health, said the Ministry in a statement.

“Indeed, vaccines are essential to the prevention and control of outbreaks of infectious diseases and they are the guarantors of global health security as evidenced by the COVID-19 pandemic where vaccination has stood out as a major lever to limit or even control the pandemic allowing a gradual return to normal life,” it said.

The celebration of this week offers an opportunity to strengthen the trust of the community in the usefulness of vaccines on the one hand and, on the other hand, to contribute to make the population increasingly favorable to immunization by complying with all doses required in the national vaccination schedule for effective protection both individual and collective against vaccine-preventable diseases.

“Thanks to the high solicitude of HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and the effective involvement of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem, Morocco is among the pioneering countries that have committed to ensure children’s right to health by allowing them access to safe, effective, good quality and free vaccines according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Technical and Scientific Advisory Committee on Immunization,” the statement said.

It added that great strides have been made in Morocco in terms of immunization against target diseases previously responsible for a heavy burden of morbidity and mortality in children under 5 years.

The efforts made under the National Immunization Program have made it possible to achieve national immunization coverage against the target diseases, exceeding 95%.
