Nahouri: The best schools in the “Eco-school” competition of the municipality of Pô rewarded

The town hall of Pô rewarded, on May 15, 2023, the best schools in the “Eco-School” competition, 2022-2023 edition, as part of the solid waste management support project (PAGDS) -19, which aims to promote a cleaner school environment and further encourage students to adopt eco-citizen behaviour.

At the end of the work of the jury, it is the public primary school of sector N°1 “A” of Pô which is designated winner of the competition out of the 14 candidate primary schools with the score of 18/20.

She wins a trophy, an envelope of 125,000 CFA francs, cleaning equipment and trash cans.

The schools of sector N°1 and sector N°6 are second ex-aequo. They each receive an envelope of 62,500 CFA francs, cleaning equipment and garbage cans.

The 4th prize consisting of 25,000 CFA francs, a trash can and cleaning equipment went to the school in sector 4 of Pô.

The other participating schools also received cleaning equipment and a trash can.

The head of the basic education district of Pô, Marcel Yogo, for his part, thanked the town hall for this initiative, congratulated the deserving and expressed the wish to see this competition expand in all the schools of the municipality.

For him, the knowledge acquired by the students will have a positive impact within the community.

Initiated by the town hall of Pô as part of the solid waste management support project (PAGDS)-19, the Eco-school competition aims to set up a sustainable, participatory and inclusive mechanism for waste management in primary schools in the agglomeration area of the municipality of Pô.

According to Benjamin Dédui, technical agent in charge of water, hygiene and sanitation for the municipality of Pô, the Eco-school competition, which takes into account all environmental issues, aims, among other things, to encourage students to return their clean life and work and to be eco-citizens.

He pointed out that information, education and communication activities for behavior change have been carried out in all schools.
