Mouhoun: The Secretary General of the Bankui region, Adjara Sandrine Kientega/Ouedraogo, officially launched the sports and cultural competitions for the 2025-2026 school year in Dedougou. The event took place on Thursday, October 30, 2025, under the theme “Sport, arts and culture at school: factors of development and professional integration for learners.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, this edition is part of an initiative by the Ministry in charge of Secondary Education to promote regular engagement in sports and cultural activities within educational institutions. The Ministry aims to enhance the complete development of individuals through a synergy of physical, intellectual, psychological, and social growth, making Artistic, Cultural, Sporting and Leisure Activities (ACSL) a crucial component of personal development and civic education.
These activities, which occur outside regular school hours, are designed to contribute to the overall well-being of both children and adults. They also play a significant role in transmitting social and civic values to the younger generation. Adjara Sandrine Kientega/Ouedraogo conveyed the Minister’s message, highlighting that these competitions are organized nationwide to bolster discipline, creativity, social cohesion, and team spirit among students.
She emphasized the department’s dedication to utilizing sport and culture as vital tools for holistic education, socio-professional integration, and national development. “Sport and culture in schools transcend mere entertainment. They constitute the very foundations of the holistic education of our learners, forging in them discipline, team spirit, tolerance, creativity, and social cohesion – cardinal and sacred values to build a united, strong and resilient Burkina Faso,” said Adjara Sandrine Kientega/Ouedraogo.
The Secretary General reiterated the authorities’ commitment to continue efforts to enhance the skills of supervisors, improve infrastructure, and provide an environment conducive to the comprehensive development of youth. The ceremony wrapped up with a brisk walk and an aerobics session, followed by a friendly football match between teachers and students, which ended in a 0-0 draw, marked by fair play and camaraderie.
