This cultural event is part of the promotion of the Moroccan model and its ancestral tradition of sharing, cohesion and intercultural and interfaith dialogue.

“This initiative had as objective to share with the Croatian public aspects of Moroccan Judaism, considered as a model in the world, thanks to the long and rich history shared in respect and harmony between Jews and Muslims of the Kingdom of Morocco for centuries,” said a statement from the Moroccan Chancery in Zagreb.

In her speech on this occasion, the Moroccan ambassador to Croatia, Nour El Houda Marrakchi, said that “HM King Mohammed VI attaches great importance to issues relating to the dialogue of religions, civilizations and cultures, including those relating to the enhancement of culture and heritage Jewish-Moroccan.”

She stressed that “the rich civilizational and cultural heritage of the Kingdom is clearly articulated in the Moroccan Constitution of 2011, which consolidates the identity components of Morocco, including the Hebrew tributary.

“Aware that culture is at the heart of civilization and human development, Morocco has made the richness of its civilizational, cultural and religious heritage the ingredients of our indivisible unity,” she said.

The activities organized as part of this project “are a microcosm of the long and rich history shared between Jews and Muslims in the Kingdom for centuries,” said the embassy statement.

It is an exhibition of the National Foundation of Museums of Morocco, consisting of photographs that trace the history of the Jewish community of Morocco, through objects, ornaments and jewelry.

Similarly, this event has given rise to a second exhibition, consisting of portraits, produced by the Archives of Morocco, in collaboration with the Essaouira Mogador Association. It is dedicated to Haïm Zafrani, an eminent thinker of Moroccan Judaism, who is among the greatest enlightened intellectuals.
