Ministry of Health receives donation of medical equipment from Japan

The Ministry of Health received on Monday, at the regional vaccine depot in Ben Arous, a donation offered by the Japanese government in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The donation includes medical equipment for consolidating the vaccine cold chain, as well as two Toyota vehicles, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health.

Health Minister Ali Mrabet welcomed the support of international partners and Japan’s effective contribution to the efforts of the Ministry of Health to promote the sector.

He also praised Japan’s support for Tunisia’s healthcare system, particularly during the covid-19 pandemic. Mrabet also stressed the importance of cooperation with UNICEF in Tunisia, and its contribution to various preventive and awareness-raising events and initiatives.

Japan’s ambassador to Tunisia, Takeshi Osuga, expressed his country’s willingness to continue the fruitful cooperation between the two friendly countries to carry out projects shortly, digitise the health system and ensure investment in the pharmaceutical industry.

The UNICEF representative in Tunisia, Michel Le Pechoux, stressed the importance of vaccination in protecting the lives of children and the population’s health.
