Tunis: Youth and Sport Minister Kamel Déguiche, Monday morning, inquired about organization of the physical education exams for the 2024 baccalaureate in a number of centers, including the Stadium of Chedli Zouiten, El Menzah Youth District and the Sports Hall of Ariana.

Speaking to TAP, he said that the events are taking place under the best conditions, welcoming the efforts of all parties concerned for the success of this educational and sporting event in Tunisia.

The minister pointed out that physical education is only taught in 63% of primary schools, adding that 37% of educational establishments lack physical education teachers. He warned against the growing phenomenon of the assignment of non-specialized physical education teachers to schools.

«The teaching of physical education by non-specialist teachers could put students at risk and induce a total reluctance to practice sport.» he underlined.

Déguiche called on all parties to solve this problem so that physical education within schools complies w
ith scientific, educational and health standards.

129,098 baccalaureate students (49,557 boys and more than 79,000 girls) throughout Tunisia started, on Monday, taking the physical education exams, which will run until Saturday, April 27.

The ministries of education, youth and sport mobilized 254 examination centers, while 71 committees were set up in all governorates based on the number of students.
