Ouagadougou: The Minister of Culture, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, delivered a positive assessment of the 15th edition of the Ouagadougou International Tourism and Hospitality Fair (SITHO), highlighting its success in achieving resilience and cultural transcendence.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Ouedraogo, speaking on behalf of the Prime Minister, officially closed the event on September 28, 2025. This year’s fair, held from September 25 to 28, was themed “Tourism and integration of the peoples of the Sahel.” The minister emphasized that the event was marked by confirmation and widespread support from the public.
Minister Ouedraogo noted that the fair not only fulfilled its promise of resilience and cultural celebration but also surpassed expectations. He commended the quality of professional meetings, the enthusiasm surrounding the activities, and the public’s engagement, which transformed the event into a national celebration.
The participation of Mali and Niger, members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), was highlighted as reinforcing the vision of a unified Sahelian tourism ecosystem. This vision is based on the free movement of people and the promotion of joint tours, enhancing regional tourism integration.
The minister also expressed appreciation for the involvement of Ghana, the guest of honor at this edition. He acknowledged that Ghana’s tourism experience enriched the discussions and expanded the possibilities for future cooperation.
