The exhibition, which promotes Moroccan heritage, is the result of the self-taught Meknes artist’s love for Moroccan culture and various artistic movements from the Renaissance to today. It places different facets of national heritage in the spotlight.
On this occasion, Yassine Bacha told M24, MAP’s 24-hour-rolling news channel, that this exhibition promotes the Moroccan heritage’s richness and diversity, noting that it revolves around two main collections, the first of which represents world art with a Moroccan vision.
“Through my paintings, I tried connect Moroccan culture and heritage to international paintings,” he said, explaining his attempt “to give Moroccans the opportunity to closely learn about world art, and foreigners the opportunity to discover our national heritage.”
Regarding the second collection bearing the title “Alwan Gnaoua” (Gnawa Colors), it exhibits paintings that are inspired from the Gnawa culture and celebrates the mythical characters of this ancestral art.
This collection “was born of my attachment to this spiritual art. I tried to free my imagination to turn M’louk Gnaoua’s mythical characters into reality,” said the Moroccan artist.
From charcoal drawing, pencil, watercolor, acrylic or oil painting, Yassine Bacha chooses different technical supports allowing him to bring his surroundings closer to his artistic universe.
