Meeting on financial and technical cooperation projects between Tunisia and World Bank


Financial and technical cooperation projects between Tunisia and the World Bank for the current period and the work programmes for the next phase of the Country Partnership Framework with Tunisia (2023-2027) were the focus of a meeting held on Monday between Minister of Economy and Planning, Feryel Ouerghi, and Executive Director representing Tunisia on the World Bank’s board, Syed Tauquir Shah.

The meeting was also attended by Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, Samia Charfi, the World Bank Resident Representative in Tunisia, Alexandre Arrobbio, and the Tunisian Representative to the World Bank, Lamia Bin Meem.

It provided an opportunity to review the main national priorities adopted for the next phase, including progress in energy transition and combating the effects of climate change, particularly on the environment and water scarcity, as well as social protection for vulnerable groups and financial inclusion, especially for women, food security and human development.

The Minister recalled that the W
orld Bank has been a key development partner for Tunisia for decades and reiterated the Government’s desire to strengthen this partnership and cooperation in a difficult global context.

The World Bank Executive Director assured her that Tunisia is one of the Bank’s main partners and expressed his willingness to strengthen reform and development programmes that are a national priority and in line with the World Bank’s guidelines for the next phase.
