A medical team on Wednesday managed to implant a pulmonary valve without surgery in an 11-year-old child with a complex congenital heart defect at a private clinic in the capital. A member of the medical team and a doctor specialising in cardiovascular diseases and medical catheterisation, Dhaker Lahidheb, told TAP that the child suffers from right ventricular hypertrophy, which has caused him to suffer from right heart failure, requiring medical intervention in the form of a therapeutic catheter without surgery. The intervention is considered qualitative because the catheterisation was performed on a pulmonary valve that had been implanted since the age of two, he pointed out.
