Produced by Nabil Ayouch and co-produced by Amine Benjelloun, “Le Bleu du Caftan” features Halim and Mina, a couple who run a Caftan store in the medina of Salé, and Youssef, a young apprentice who shares with Halim a sincere passion for sewing. The movie speaks of “transmission, tradition and love, in the broadest sense of the term.”
The movie will be screened along with 18 other films from around the world in the “un certain regard” official selection.
The jury of the competition is expected to be announced in the next few days. Among the big names who have been approached for the gig are Brad Pitt and Penelope Cruz. Spike Lee presided over last year’s jury.
