Maracana Boss Final in Ouaga: Sainte Edwige Academy Outclasses Soleil du Centre (4-1)

Ouagadougou: The Sainte Edwige Academy of Tampouy (ASE) was crowned Sunday evening at the 4th edition of the Maracana tournament for under-15s, ‘Boss in Ouaga’, by beating in the final on the ground of the Pentec´te college in Ouagadougou, the Soleil du Centre de Tanghin team by a score of 4 goals to 1.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the final, held under the banner of peace and social cohesion, lived up to all its promises with a clash of styles between two schools of play. ASE Tampouy opted for a direct and fast game, multiplying offensive incursions from the kickoff. This choice quickly paid off with the opening goal in the 9th minute.

The Soleil du Centre de Tanghin, faithful to its plan based on patience and conservation phases, found its bearings at the restart and managed to equalize at the start of the second half. But this reaction was quickly annihilated by the offensive pressure of the ASE.

Backed into a corner, the Soleil du Centre defense eventually conceded an own goal, before finally cracking in the face of opposing offensive waves. The Sainte Edwige academics, full of confidence, increased the score to ultimately win 4 goals to 1.

Tournament promoter Daouda Sawadogo, president of the Boss Sports Association in Ouagadougou, praised “a high-level final that highlighted the next generation of athletes.” He paid tribute to the volunteers, referees, mediators, and partners whose commitment, he said, helped make the competition “a true popular and sporting success.”

Sawadogo stressed the need for increased support from authorities, sports stakeholders, and partners for future editions, emphasizing that the tournament provides a platform for expression and promotion for young talents from the neighborhoods of Ouagadougou.

At the end of the competition, which brought together 16 teams of young people under 15 years old (and under 45 kg), the winning team received the trophy, a set of jerseys, a ball, and the sum of 40,000 CFA francs, leaving the runner-up team, Soleil du Centre de Tanghin, with a prize of 30,000 CFA francs, a ball, and a set of jerseys. The third-place team received a prize of 10,000 CFA francs.

It was in a festive and fraternal atmosphere that this 4th edition closed, and a date was set for next year.
