Loroum Son Provides Classrooms to Ease Overcrowding in Selbonga

Ouagadougou: A local son offers four semi-finished classrooms to the students of Selbonga. A native of Loroum province, Boukary Jacques Niampa, launched this Tuesday the construction of four semi-finished classrooms on the site of School C in Titao, for the benefit of students in Selbonga. This was presided over by the Secretary General of Loroum province, David Ayoro.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the launching ceremony marked the initiative of Boukary Jacques Niampa, a former mayor of the commune of Titao. The semi-finished classrooms are designed to address the lack of school infrastructure needed to accommodate the growing number of school-age children in the region.

The initiative responds to recent increases in the student population due to displaced people returning to Titao, which has significantly increased the demand for educational facilities in Loroum province. The overcrowding issue affects both primary and secondary schools, with some classes reaching over 300 students.

The construction of the classrooms is aimed at reducing these large class sizes. Boukary Jacques Niampa emphasized the importance of supporting education and acknowledged the challenges faced by the state due to insecurity. He expressed a commitment to continue advocating for educational support in Loroum.

Niampa also praised the efforts of teachers working under challenging conditions and acknowledged their dedication. As an incentive, he offered a motorcycle to the teacher with the best performance during the 2025-2026 school year.

The Secretary General of Loroum Province, David Ayoro, and the Provincial Director in charge of Primary Education, Sidiki Mande, thanked Niampa for his contributions toward addressing current educational challenges. Despite the new infrastructure, the class size in Loroum remains high, with over 120 students per class.
