Local elections: second round set for first half of February (Mansri) [Upd 1]


Tunisians are set to cast their ballots in the second round of local elections in the first half of February, Spokesperson for the Independent High Authority for Elections (French : ISIE) Mohamed Tlili Mansri said on Wednesday, after the expiry of possible deadlines for challenges.

Challenges will be filed with the Administrative Court starting Thursday, the election commission official told reporters following a press conference held on Wednesday evening to announce the preliminary first round results of December 24 elections.

The court may issue a first instance decision or a decision in appeal, Mansri said, and the election commission takes into account all possible deadlines set out in the election law.

Final results will be announced next January 27 and the second round will be held within fifteen days from that date, that is the first half of February.

The turnout in December 24 local elections reached 11.84%, President of the Independent High Authority for Elections Farouk Bouasker told a press co
