Local elections/Beja: candidates promise to develop industrial area and promote education


Candidates for the South Beja local council (El Maagoula constituency) have promised to develop the industrial area, solve school problems and activate the role of associations.

El Maagoula candidate Rachid El Amdouni’s slogan is “El Maagoula wants, El Maagoula deserves”. He told TAP that his programme focuses on the real needs of El Maagoula and promised to work on the development of the industrial area to attract investors, create a shopping centre and citizen businesses, as there is unused state land.

He also said he would work to reopen the area’s primary school and create a high school and sports centre to help the area’s youth.

For his part, Nabil Habbachi said that his job as a taxi driver helped him to be in constant contact with citizens and to hear their concerns.

Habbachi went on to say that he would prioritise the industrial area, reopen the El Maagoula school and equip the youth centre with electronic games.

The third candidate, Mejdi El Ayari, told TAP that he would develop sports activiti
es and promote the role of associations that look after the elderly, in addition to creating a high school and developing green areas in the centre of El Maagoula.
