Kourittenga: The Association Nourish Without Destroying (ANSD) hosted a guided tour of agroecological model fields for media professionals in the communes of Tibga and Gounghin. This initiative, held on Friday, October 24, 2025, aimed to promote agroecology as a sustainable alternative to conventional agricultural systems.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this media engagement forms part of ANSD’s broader efforts to showcase sustainable farming practices that do not harm the soil or biodiversity and operate independently of chemical inputs. A 20-hectare agroecological farm in Modr© village serves as a training ground for over 200 producers annually, demonstrating local agroecological techniques.
The tour highlighted various ecological practices, such as using local composts, managing water resources, producing biofertilizers, and protecting useful tree species. Emmanuel Tougma, a producer from the commune of Gounghin, shared that training from ANSD enabled him to effectively manage diverse crops and improve soil moisture through water catchment.
Ali Dianou, ANSD’s Executive Secretary, expressed satisfaction with the visit, emphasizing the importance of media involvement in understanding and supporting agroecological practices. He noted that over 2,000 producers have collaborated with ANSD, resulting in the recovery of more than 500 hectares of land. The media professionals expressed appreciation for the initiative, recognizing its role in promoting locally adapted, sustainable farming techniques.
