Kourittenga Priests Gather for Eastern Priestly Fraternity Assembly in Koup©la


Koup©la: 98 priests from the ecclesiastical province of Koup©la convened for their 5th provincial general assembly of the Eastern Priestly Fraternity of the Burkina-Niger Episcopal Conference on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. The gathering brought together clergy from the dioceses of Dori, Kaya, D©dougou, Fada, and Koup©la.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the assembly was organized under the theme: “Priests, Brothers, friends and servants in the church family of God, let us be witnesses of hope.” The event is simultaneously held in the other ecclesiastical provinces on the same date, emphasizing unified reflection and action within the church community.



Monsignor Prosper Bonaventure Ky, president of the episcopal commission of the clergy and Bishop of D©dougou, highlighted the purpose of the assembly. “According to the statutes and internal regulations, the priests of the ecclesiastical province must meet and be able to reflect on their lives, on the life of the church and make proposals to the hierarchy for the smooth running of the church,” he stated. The assembly serves as a platform for considering initiatives that cater to the needs of different communities and address the demands of pastoral care.



The provincial president, Abbot Roger Bamogo, from Kaya, emphasized the significance of living together in communion. He noted, “This meeting aims to open minds and hearts to a deep understanding of the events of our ministry in this difficult context.”



The provincial general assembly of the priestly fraternity of the East of the Burkina-Niger Episcopal Conference is set to conclude on Friday, May 2, 2025.
