Koulpelogo: The populations of Ouargaye and Yond© were sensitized on Sunday, at the town hall of Ouargaye, on the theme: “Civic behavior to adopt in times of insecurity”, during a public conference initiated by the focal points and coordinators of the two localities. The head of the Ouargaye gendarmerie detachment, Lieutenant Brice Dah, called for the construction of a new, united, and prosperous Burkina Faso. He insisted on respecting national symbols, particularly the flag, and condemned their misuse during demonstrations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Lieutenant Dah also urged citizens to respect public safety and traffic laws and regulations, avoid destruction, and demonstrate discipline and responsibility. He stressed the importance of cooperating with local authorities and obtaining the necessary permits before any demonstration. The leader of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of Ouargaye, Sidewata Zombr©, for his part, insisted on social cohesion and peace, essential conditions for defeating the common enemy that is terrorism. He urged each entity to play its part respectfully and called on the population to avoid any complicity with terrorist groups.
Koulp©logo’s security focal point, Sana A. Fathao, emphasized respect for authority and the fight against incivility in all its forms. He encouraged the population to adopt a responsible and civic-minded attitude in the face of security challenges. A conference participant, Boureima Yambr©, explained to the audience the meaning and values of the Progressive and Popular Revolution (RPP), inviting everyone to be a role model in their community to support this movement of social transformation.
The head of the Yond© Environment Department, Lieutenant of Water and Forests Marc Tiendrebeogo, representing the provincial director of the Environment of Koulp©logo, drew attention to the abusive exploitation of forest resources in the commune of Ouargaye. According to him, insecurity has led to population displacement, increasing pressure on forests through the logging of green timber and charcoal production. He advocated sustainable management of natural resources and reiterated the need to protect forest species.
The provincial women’s coordinator invited women to become actors of social cohesion and peace, through community initiatives and solidarity between households. The participants asked several questions for clarification and expressed their complaints, to which the various speakers provided answers deemed satisfactory. The conference closed with a general call for individual and collective responsibility for the return of peace and the construction of a stable and prosperous Burkina Faso.
