Boulkiemde: The city of Koudougou has embraced a green initiative with the launch of the second edition of the “Voluntary Clean-Up” operation, officially started on September 2. This initiative, driven by local authorities, civil society associations, and volunteers, aims to foster citizen engagement in enhancing sanitation and restoring vegetation in the Nando region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the mobilization gained momentum on September 3, as local authorities, including the governor of Nando, Adama Jean Yves Bere, the Director General of GIP-PNVB, Nestor Noufe, and the mission officer of the presidency of Faso, Pema Florent Neya, actively participated by planting 200 trees at the CRS camp and cleaning gutters along RN21.
Governor Bere highlighted the initiative’s importance, emphasizing self-reliance and the benefits of a healthy environment. He urged the population to ensure the operation’s success, which is set to continue until September 4. The choice of the CRS camp as a focal point underscores the initiative’s symbolic aim to support the defense and security forces by improving their working and living environments.
Nestor Noufe reiterated the action’s vision, aiming to inspire long-term community ownership of the initiative. Pema Florent Neya expressed satisfaction, noting the community’s enthusiastic response and the benefits of tree planting for the soldiers’ welfare.
The operation will conclude on September 4 at Norbert Zongo University, marking the end of a successful pilot phase that has resonated with the people of Koudougou.
