Koudougou: The final of the 6th edition of the Maracana Vacation Football Tournament was played on Sunday at the Alpha Sanoussa private high school in Koudougou. Pied d’Or FC won the trophy against Divino FC, after a 1-1 draw in regulation time and a 1-0 victory on penalties.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the winner took home 100,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, a ball, and the trophy. The runner-up, Divino FC, received 70,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, and a ball.
Sam© Yam©ogo Boudnoma Nina, Director of Road Safety Planning and Promotion at ONASER and Patron of the publication, welcomed the initiative which allows her organization to raise awareness among young people about good traffic practices. She insisted on wearing helmets, seat belts, and on being careful on the road.
The sponsor’s representative, Jean Vianney Bationo, encouraged the organization, believing that the competition allows for the revealing of talents and the positive channeling of youth.
Tournament promoter Isma«l Zongo recalled that the activity aims to bring young people together and raise their awareness about road safety, considered a major challenge.
Pied d’Or FC captain Vincent Rouamba explained that the victory was the result of his team’s unity and commitment.
Under the theme: “Educating for road safety and sustainable environmental preservation”, the 2025 edition also hosted awareness-raising activities and a gala match between communicators and stylists, which ended in a draw (1-1).
The date is set for 2026, with the 7th edition of the football holiday tournament.
