The youth organization SOS Jeunesse et Défi, launched this Friday, April 12, 2024, the project ‘Protecting human dignity phase III’, in the commune of Nouna, for a period of ten months, at benefit of internally displaced persons and host populations in emergency situations.
The dual security and humanitarian crisis that Burkina Faso is experiencing reveals numerous challenges, the reduction of access to certain localities, the loss of livelihoods of the populations and above all the poor access to basic services.
To respond to its challenges, SOS Jeunesse and its partners intend to contribute to protecting human dignity, by providing care to victims of gender-based violence, by ensuring the promotion of reproductive health, hygiene , sanitation and accountability in the Eastern and Boucle du Mouhoun region.
The launch workshop of the ‘Protecting human dignity phase III’ project, launched on Friday April 12, 2024, was attended by administrative, customary and religious authorities as well as civil society o
rganizations.
For the project coordinator, Pauline Kouama, the contributions of leaders were requested for the implementation of project activities in the commune of Nouna.
The project monitoring and evaluation manager, Ouambi Paul Sama, stressed that the project intends to strengthen, among other things, the capacities of health care providers in the clinical care of survivors of sexual violence, the distribution of dignity kits for women and girls of childbearing age, and activities to promote reproductive health and hygiene.
The High Commissioner of Kossi province, Noufo Dembele, invited technical services to support the project.
He requested their support in raising awareness among the population on new themes so that the project meets the needs of the population.
Recommendations were made by the participants in order to take into account the concerns of the population. Updating the lists of beneficiaries to avoid duplicates, anything which allows the database to be expanded.
