Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi on Wednesday had a series of meetings with several of his Arab counterparts, on the sidelines of the 38th Council of Arab Ministers of Justice.
Ouahbi met with the Ministers of Justice Lebanese Henri Khoury, Mauritanian Mohamed Mahmoud Ben Sheikh Abdullah Ben Boye, Palestinian Mohamed Shelaldeh, and Libyan Halima Ibrahim.
During these talks, held in Ifrane, Ouahbi highlighted the milestones and major reform of the national judicial system in accordance with the High Guidance of HM King Mohammed VI and in implementation of the provisions of the Constitution of 2011.
On the same occasion, the Moroccan minister gave an overview of the particularity of the Kingdom’s experience in the field of Justice and the mechanisms of cooperation between the institutions involved in the judicial and legal action in the Kingdom.
Ouahbi also dwelt on the important reforms and open sites of the judicial system including the work of modernization and digitization, training and qualification of human resources, and consolidation of judicial efficiency.
These talks were an opportunity to discuss ways to consolidate cooperation in areas of common interest, while working to exchange experiences and expertise to raise the judicial institutions of Arab countries.
For their part, the ministers welcomed the position of Morocco which always supports the Arab countries and showed their willingness to strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom in the field of Justice.
They also expressed their wish to benefit from the Moroccan experience in judicial matters, especially in the field of legislation and alternative sentencing.
The 38th Council of Arab Ministers of Justice began with the holding of the 70th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Council.
This meeting, held at the invitation of the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, comes at a time when the Arab region is facing great challenges in the fight against organized crime and terrorism.
This two-day session is also an important step towards strengthening Arab and international cooperation mechanisms in the legal and judicial fields.
