Ouagadougou: The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, launched construction work on a textile complex called ‘IRO- TEXBURKINA.

The construction of this industrial unit is in line with the vision of the Head of State who announced it last January during his stay in Koudougou. ‘This area was the very foundation of the first processing unit; it was appropriate that a cotton processing unit could be established there,’ declared the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.

Burkina Faso has embarked on ‘a process of industrialization. In all areas of Burkina that have specific characteristics, we will do everything possible to transform our products locally,’ he maintained. According to Captain TRAORE, it is through industrialization ‘that we can create enough jobs so that young people can flourish’.

The Head of State also indicated that the government is committed to this project with the Burkinabè Textile Fiber Company (SOFITEX), the Burkina Faso Economic and Social D
evelopment Fund (FBDES) and the National Union of Cotton Producers of Burkina Faso. (UNPCB).

He hoped that the project could be executed quickly and well in strict compliance with the requirements of the specifications. Also, he asked the populations to take ownership of the project.

IRO-TEXBURKINA will build a unit on an area of 42 hectares in Sourgou and another of 50 hectares in Boromo with a total investment of 165 billion FCFA. Ultimately, this textile complex will create more than 4,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs for the two sites.

The Head of State has, once again, invited economic operators who wish to come and invest in Burkina Faso. He reassured them of the government’s commitment to supporting their initiatives through the facilities that will be granted to them
