The spokesperson for the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES), Romdhan Ben Amor, said Saturday the various documents of the political, economic and social initiative are ready and will be presented soon.

This initiative will present an integrated process of political, economic and social dimensions to solve the crisis shaking the country, he said.

In a statement to TAP on the sidelines of the start of the Forum’s third elective congress, held in Hammamet on Saturday and Sunday, Ben Amor added that the values upheld by the initiative and defended by the four organisations (namely the UGTT, the LTDH, the Bar Association and the FTDES) will create a consensus among the majority of Tunisians.

These include the separation of powers and support for independent constitutional bodies.

This initiative will provide a platform for activism in the coming period, he argued. It has a constructive objective and recognises the legitimacy of the President of the Republic and is addressed to him, Ben Amor pointed out.

The President of the Republic’s rejection of this initiative is explained by his desire to resolve the economic, social and financial crises without mentioning the political crisis, despite the strong interlink between these different dimensions, Ben Amor said.
