“The results of the permanent households’ survey, conducted by the HCP, show that in the fourth quarter of 2022, household confidence continues its downward trend to reach its lowest level since the beginning of the survey in 2008,” said the High Commission for Planning (HCP) in an information note.

Thus, 83.1% of households report a deterioration of the standard of living over the past 12 months, 11.8% a maintenance at the same level and 5.1% an improvement, said the same source, noting that the balance of opinion on the past evolution of the standard of living remained negative, at minus 78 pts, against minus 74.6 pts in the previous quarter and minus 55.2 pts a year earlier.

Over the next 12 months, 52.4% of households expect their standard of living to deteriorate, 38.2% to remain at the same level and 9.4% to improve, with the balance of opinion on this indicator standing at -43 pts against -41.6 pts in the previous quarter and -1.4 pts in the same quarter of last year.
