Houndé Catholic Primary School celebrates its 10th anniversary


The school in Houndé celebrated the 10th anniversary of its existence on a delayed basis, from June 27 to 29, 2024, in Houndé. It was in the presence of diocesan leaders of Catholic education and administrative authorities.

The Sainte Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus school in Houndé was brought to the baptismal font in October 2012.

Started with 70 students, it currently has 385 students (166 girls and 219 boys) for 6 classes. Its success rates for the Certificate of Primary Studies (CEP) exam are as follows: 100% in 2019; 92.85% in 2020; 83% in 2021; 92% in 2022; 90% in 2023 and 100% in 2024.

Thus, to mark with a white stone its tenth anniversary which it celebrated deferred from June 27 to 29, 2024, the Catholic school of Houndé organized several activities including a conference on the theme: ‘The impact of NICTs on education’ to explain to students the benefits and harms of NICTs on education.

An open day to discover the school, a cultural evening prepared by the students who demonstrated their know-how and
inter-class football matches were on the agenda.

Added to this are a thanksgiving mass, a presentation of gifts to deserving actors, a children’s fair and a tree planting which marked the official ceremony which took place in the presence of diocesan officials of the Catholic education and administrative authorities.

During this meeting, the 12 best students, the 7 teachers, the principal and 28 vulnerable students of the school saw their work rewarded through school kits and envelopes.

In addition, at least 17 resource people and structures each received a certificate of recognition for their contribution to the implementation of the Catholic education project in Houndé.

The president of the organizing committee, Félix Tiama, paid a vibrant tribute to the pioneers who had the vision of creating the Houndé Catholic school.

In addition, he expressed thanks to all education stakeholders whose combined efforts, according to him, made it possible to achieve the school’s good results.

The president of the or
ganizing committee also became the spokesperson for the community by requesting from the diocese the construction of a Catholic college in Houndé.

Doctor Fernand Nana was delighted to sponsor the 10th anniversary of the Houndé Catholic school. He congratulated the staff as well as all those people who work for the prosperity of this school.

‘We are all witnesses to the efforts that this school makes in terms of education, the results it obtains and the opportunity it gives our children to learn and be the leaders of tomorrow,’ he said. -he explains. Dr Nana thus expressed his availability as much as possible to support any initiative in this direction.

For the Diocesan Director of Catholic Education (DDEC) of Dédougou, Alfred Wilfried Dibann Ki, it is a feeling of joy to take part in the celebration of ten years of the Catholic primary school of Houndé. He thanked everyone at the school for the satisfactory results. ‘We must look at these results which are good but also always seek to improve them’ he indi
cated.

In relation to the grievance of opening a Catholic college in Houndé, the DDEC wanted to be reassuring. ‘Certainly with the grace of God and the help of everyone we will be able to open this Catholic college.

The file has been launched and we take it to heart. » he reassured. According to the parish priest of Houndé, Dieudonné Bouna, the overall objective of this meeting is to give thanks to the Lord for its multiple benefits towards the Catholic primary school of Houndé which is now ten years old.

For him, it is not only a question of being grateful to God but also to all the actors of the institution while placing it under divine protection for greater success and influence in the years to come.

The priest suggested that the Catholic school welcomes everyone without distinction of sex or religion. he said.

As a reminder, the Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus school in Houndé comes under the Diocesan Directorate of Catholic Education in Dédougou. This department currently has 30 establishments inc
luding 3 preschool, 16 primary and 11 post-primary and secondary.
