The Association “Cascades plus Kénédougou contre le Sud-Ouest” (CKSO) organized, on May 13 and 14, 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso, the 3rd edition of its 48 hours under the theme: “Endogenous mechanisms for the promotion of peace and social cohesion: the example of joking relationships”.
After the first two editions in Ouagadougou in 2019 and 2022, the joking relationship was magnified on May 13 and 14, 2023 at the René Fournier Cultural Center (Sénoufo center) in Bobo-Dioulasso, on the occasion of the 48 hours of Association “Cascades plus Kénédougou against the South-West” (CKSO).
According to the president of the CKSO Association, Djéou Palenfo, the objective is to promote joking relationships and put them at the service of living together, social cohesion and peace.
The 48 hours were mainly punctuated by a public conference and a shopping street where various local dishes were displayed.
The event was placed under the patronage of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, represented by the Regional Director in charge of culture in the Hauts-Bassins, Siaka Sanou.
“I congratulate CKSO for the organization of this edition which is held in a difficult context. Artistic and cultural resilience is at the heart of all debates,” said the Minister’s representative.
He therefore wanted this initiative to be continued in order to transmit these values of living together to future generations.
The public lecture was moderated by Dr. Dramane Konaté who said that joking relationships encompass kinship and joking alliance, their origins, and their contribution to conflict prevention and management.
“Joking relationships play an essential role in that they strengthen intra- and inter-community ties and help resolve conflicts,” Dr. Konaté said.
He regretted that the younger generation does not necessarily know the precepts prescribed at the level of joking relationships, but also prohibitions and taboos.
“Joking relationships are a great tool for social cohesion. If this value had not failed, certain phenomena that are currently happening would not occur”, for his part, regretted the spokesperson for the sponsors, Seydou Konaté.
