Houet/Animal production unit in garrisons: 12 equipped army and GSP personnel

Ouagadougou: The Bobo-Dioulasso garrison presented, on Wednesday January 31, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso, end of training certificates for the benefit of 12 army personnel and prison security guards (GSP). Sponsored by the National School of Livestock and Animal Health (ENESA), the training in animal production units lasted 10 days.

As part of the Presidential Initiative project, the Ouézzin Coulibaly camp in Bobo-Dioulasso and the Bobo Detention and Correction Center (MCB) benefited from a farm consisting of a henhouse and a sheepfold.

Thus, to run this farm, 12 personnel from the army and the Prison Security Guard (GSP) were trained for this purpose. After 10 days of learning, they received their training certificates on Wednesday January 31, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso.

Six prison security guards, four army personnel including a girl, and two gendarmes including a girl, were the beneficiaries.

The said beneficiaries are mainly made up of war wounded.

Led by the National School of Livestock and Animal Health (EN
ESA), with the financial support of the General Directorate of Major Projects of Burkina, the training focused on agricultural techniques, fattening cattle, agricultural business management and small ruminant breeding techniques.

According to the head of the Civil Retraining Assistance office in Bobo, Chief Warrant Officer Major Ousmane Diallo, the training went well because the trainees followed the communications with great enthusiasm.

‘This training will allow farm leaders to equip themselves with the necessary know-how to succeed in their mission,’ he stressed.

For the director of ENESA, Dr Nouhoun Zampaligré, the objective is to provide the beneficiary barracks with production units, poultry and small ruminants to serve as a place of application and learning for the benefit of the various participants of the training of the retraining assistance office for civilian life.

‘This pilot initiative will also contribute to promoting agro-pastoral production within the barracks,’ said Zampaligré.

According
to him, this initiative is integrated not only into the presidential initiative but also into the military food program and also the agro-pastoral offensive, animal resources component.

The desire for him is to produce enough for the populations in order to achieve food and nutritional self-sufficiency.

‘At the ENESA level, we judged that the army in its entire component can play a crucial role if all forces are mobilized to participate in production,’ suggested Dr. Nouhoun Zampaligré.

As for the representative of the commander of the second military region, battalion chief Lokpala Kambou, he invited the beneficiaries of the training to invest in their work in order to succeed in their mission.

‘It’s a pilot project. You are the first who must implement it, if you succeed you will have a congratulatory letter from the chain of command but if you fail, you know too,’ he addressed the beneficiaries.

The prison security controller, Lomboki Bonko, beneficiary of the training, for his part, expressed his sati
sfaction with the training received.

‘This training meets our expectations because it will relaunch agro-pastoral activities at the level of the armed forces.

As far as remand and correctional centers are concerned, it will provide support for the activities of professional training services,’ he was convinced.
