Hachani stresses need to create all conditions for success of 2024 Population and Housing Census.


Tunis: Prime Minister, Ahmed Hachani, stressed at a small cabinet meeting he chaired at the Government Palace in Kasbah Friday, the need to ensure all favourable conditions, especially logistical conditions, for the success of the 13th population and housing census in 2024.

The 13th population and housing census will be carried out in accordance with the ten-year schedule for population censuses. It will rely on the digital census to provide geographical data, improve the content, guarantee the quality of the data collected and reduce the time needed to publish the census results, according to a press release issued by the Prime Ministry.

The national census is of great importance as a population statistics operation and the main source for producing accurate and detailed statistics on population and housing, changes in family living conditions and development indicators, according to the same source.

It will also contribute to the creation of the first statistical register and to the implementation of the
national data strategy.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Defence, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Social Affairs, the Minister of the Economy and Planning, the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, the Minister of Trade and Export Development, the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Education, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Minister of Culture, the Minister of Communication Technologies, the Minister of Public Works and Housing and acting Minister of Transport, the Minister of State Property and Land Affairs and the Minister of Tourism.
