Gourma: On the occasion of the official launch of the 2025-2026 school year, the provincial director in charge of Education sent his best wishes for success to all stakeholders in the education system, while calling for mobilization and solidarity to meet the security and humanitarian challenges facing Burkinabe schools.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Hamadou Gassambe, the provincial director in charge of Education, expressed his hopes for a peaceful and secure academic year, emphasizing the importance of achieving the goals set for the educational community. He called upon students, teachers, parents, and partners to remain united in their efforts to preserve schools as bastions against ignorance and defenses against violent extremism.
Mr. Gassambe acknowledged the determination of families and communities in supporting the reopening of schools, despite the prevailing challenges. He paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), highlighting their courage which, according to him, allows education to continue “where darkness tries to impose itself.”
The provincial director urged education stakeholders to view the back-to-school period as “a time of mobilization, coordination and solidarity,” ensuring that every child has the opportunity to “learn, dream and build their future.” He emphasized that “School is our weapon. Education is our response to violence. And our commitment is the key to victory.”
