Gourma Health Insurance Organizes Productive Labor Day Activities

Fada N’Gourma: The mutual health insurance company of the provincial directorate in charge of Agriculture in Gourma organized a series of activities on Thursday, May 1, 2025, to make International Labor Day more beneficial for the community.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the mutual health insurance fund aimed to transform Labor Day from a mere celebration into a day of productive engagement. The event featured a sanitation session, a conference, and board games. Salifou Konf©, the Provincial Director in charge of Agriculture, emphasized the importance of celebrating in a meaningful way. “We must know how to celebrate the holidays in a useful way. Instead of gathering in a bush to put on a show, we preferred to carry out healthy activities on May 1, 2025,” he remarked. The focus was on cleaning the veterinary clinic where meat inspections are conducted, addressing a public health issue.

The activities also included a conference on “The contribution of agents to achieving the objectives of the agricultural offensive.” This conference aimed to equip agents with the knowledge to identify genuine beneficiaries of state support in subsidized inputs and labor. The day concluded with board games designed to strengthen connections among management staff.

An agent from the Madina Naba livestock technical support unit praised the initiative, noting the benefits of the activities. She highlighted that maintaining cleanliness in the workplace fosters respect from service users and promotes awareness of hygiene practices among the population. Seydou Bado, the deputy secretary of the national union of agricultural workers of Gourma, expressed the union’s support for the activities, recognizing their significance for both users and staff.
