Goulmou: The constituted bodies of the Goulmou region observed, this Friday, October 31, 2025, in Fada N’Gourma, a minute of silence in memory of the citizens who fell during the popular uprising of October 2014, which ended 27 years of rule by former President Blaise Compaore. The memorial ceremony was presided over by the Secretary General of the Goulmou region, Siaka Ouattara, in the presence of representatives of the defense and security forces and administrative authorities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Ouattara stated that the minute of silence aimed to honor the memory of all the victims who gave their lives to safeguard democratic gains in Burkina Faso. “It is our duty never to forget these women and men who stood up for the freedom, justice, and dignity of our people,” he said.
The participants then called for the strengthening of social cohesion, forgiveness, and the preservation of peace, values essential to the consolidation of the rule of law and national development. Established in several localities across the country, the commemoration of October 31st remains a symbol of citizen resistance and the ongoing quest for virtuous governance in Burkina Faso.
