Ouagadougou: The bishops of France expressed their disapproval on Saturday after artists, generally associated with homosexuals (drag queens), imitated, during the opening of the Olympic Games, the last meal of Jesus. Christ with his apostles (Holy Supper).
‘The opening ceremony proposed by the COJOP yesterday (Friday) evening offered the whole world wonderful moments of beauty, joy, rich in emotions and universally praised. This ceremony unfortunately included scenes of derision and mockery of Christianity, which we deplore very deeply,’ they wrote in a press release, co-signed by the organizers of the ‘Holy Games’ – a program of the Catholic Church to reconcile sport and faith.
If the scenes are not precisely mentioned, a notable moment of the ceremony was a painting entitled ‘Festivity’ beginning with the image of a group at the table, including several drag queens, reminiscent of the Last Supper, the last meal of Jesus with his apostles.
‘We think of all the Christians on all continents who have been h
urt by the excess and provocation of certain scenes. We hope they understand that the Olympic celebration extends far beyond the ideological biases of a few artists,’ add the Conference of Bishops and the organizers of the ‘Holy Games.’
They also thank ‘the members of other religious faiths who have expressed their solidarity with us’.
Voices on the right, and even more on the far right, have also been outraged since Friday evening by a ‘wokist’ opening ceremony, with, among other things, a vision which ‘seeks to ridicule Christians’.

In the West, drag queens are male performers who dress grotesquely like women to perform. They are generally mistaken for homosexuals.
