Fight against terrorism: those injured in operations plead for the establishment of a day of tribute


Ouagadougou: The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE chaired, yesterday afternoon, the closing of the conference on improving the care of wounded in operations.

More than 500 participants, including 300 injured in operations, spent 72 hours reflecting on improving the care of the injured and their socio-professional reintegration. They reviewed the various texts relating to the fight against terrorism and those relating to the treatment reserved for the injured.

At the end of the work, the participants recommended the creation of a multidisciplinary service for the management of the wounded in operation in each entity and the creation of an autonomous structure for the emergency medical care of the wounded and their evacuation outside from the country.

The establishment of a special professional reintegration program for the benefit of Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland injured during operations and those mobilized was also proposed; as well as the establishment of
psychological, social and spiritual support systems and strategies in each entity of the Defense and Security Forces.

The wounded in operation also called for the establishment of a day to pay tribute to them, the reactivation of the reform commission of the National Armed Forces and its implementation in other entities, and the adoption of specific texts on the wounded in operation.

In response, the Head of State assured that actions are underway to improve their conditions. This concerns in particular the strengthening and improvement of the technical platform of the army medical center as well as the free and rapid treatment of the injured in all regional hospital centers in the country, the practice of which is already operational.
