Kaya: The self-assessment steering committee (CoPil) of the Kaya University Center (CUK) officially submitted its self-assessment report for the Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Computer Science applied to Economics (LSIE) to Dr. Adama Ou©draogo, project manager of the center. This event, held at the CUK premises in Kaya, marks a significant step in the institution’s commitment to enhancing its training offerings.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the 32-page report produced by the CoPil, based on an in-depth analysis of the training offerings, presents an overall score of 75%. It highlights a rate of 97% in the area of “Definition and architecture of the training offering” while identifying areas for improvement, such as the justification of the offering (50%) and the pedagogical organization (75%).
The vice-president of the CoPil, Adama Ou©draogo, a lecturer-researcher in physics at CUK and the quality assurance focal point of the Internal Quality Assurance Unit (CIAQ) of Joseph Ki-Zerbo University (UJKZ), noted that the report resulted from extensive participation from the university community, including teachers, students, and administrative staff. It outlines the challenges to be addressed and the opportunities to be harnessed to bolster CUK’s position in the academic and socio-economic landscape of Burkina Faso and beyond.
The study was conducted following the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES) framework for accreditation. Upon receiving the report, the project manager expressed satisfaction with the results, emphasizing the importance of this approach in strengthening quality within the establishment.
Dr. Adama Ou©draogo stated that the Kaya University Center is committed to continuous openness and improvement, aiming for international recognition through regional and global accreditations. The prospect of CAMES accreditation for the 2025-2026 academic year is already anticipated, with self-assessment projects planned for other courses.
He emphasized that rigorous monitoring of the recommendations will be ensured to guarantee the quality and sustainability of the training offered at CUK. Established in 2016 under the auspices of Joseph Ki-Zerbo University, CUK aims to provide quality higher education focused on the employability of young graduates, positioning itself as a key player in educational and socio-economic development in the Kuils© region.
