Ouagadougou: The first edition of the Dano health district’s days of excellence unfolded with a ceremonial raising of the national colors at the medical center with surgical antenna, presided over by the High Commissioner of Ioba, Innocents Ouattara.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, which spanned from April 9 to 11, 2025, aimed to enhance care quality, motivate healthcare workers, engage partners, and acknowledge the government’s health sector efforts in Ioba. The inauguration, characterized by the national flag’s solemn raising, took place at the Dano Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) under Innocents Ouattara’s leadership.
The ceremony drew the participation of local dignitaries, healthcare professionals, administrative staff, and Dano residents. Over the 72-hour event, a range of activities took place, including free consultations and care provided by Dr. Evariste Dabir©, a cardiologist from the Bois clinic.
Residents benefited from free health checks, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and weight assessments, alongside HIV/AIDS and hepatitis B screenings. The event also marked the inaugural visit of a mobile clinic to Dano, providing breast and cervical cancer screenings to hundreds of women.
Sports activities featured prominently, with a cross-country race followed by aerobics engaging health workers and Dano’s sporting community. In a football match, the health team triumphed over the FDS team with a score of 2-1.
A commemorative event at the Dano Women’s Museum recognized outstanding health facilities, units, and individuals. During the launch, Dr. Salam Mand©, chief physician of the Dano health district, emphasized the event’s alignment with the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, urging staff to adhere to national authorities’ vision.
High Commissioner Innocents Ouattara highlighted the benefits of the event’s impact, urging participation in the activities and expressing gratitude to sponsors and partners. The event was under the patronage of Health Minister Lucien Kargougou, with co-patrons including Commerce Minister Serge Poda and Sports Minister Roland Somda.
Sponsors included Southwest Regional Health Director Dr. Bakary Traor©, Dr. Evariste Dabir©, and lawyer Mathieu Som©. The High Commissioner of Ioba Province, Innocents Ouattara, chaired the edition, with His Majesty Naonfa 2, head of the Dano canton, as the guest of honor.
