Ouagadougou: Project manager Hamidou Belem, representing the Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, accompanied by provincial authorities, gave the starting point of the 7th edition of ‘Show Vacances Culture’ on Saturday July 20, 2024 in Ouahigouya.
It is under the theme ‘Promotion of culture for a patriotic burst of youth in the North’ that the representative of the Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Hamidou Belem, in the company of the authorities of the commune of Ouahigouya, sounded the drum marking the start of the 7th edition of ‘Show Vacances Culture’ in the city of Naaba Kango.
Bringing together youth from the region’s provinces through music to promote social cohesion and living together is the objective sought through this dance competition.
For promoter Boureima Ouédraogo: ‘We wanted to organize Show Vacances Culture because basically, culture is the basis of development. If we lose our culture, we have lost everything. Thi
s is why we want, through this cultural activity, to bring together the youth of the Northern region to show on a national level that despite the security context, the Northern region and all of Burkina remain standing. »
For two months, twelve (12) troupes from the three provinces of the region – Passoré, Loroum, and Yatenga – will show their talents in traditional and modern dance.
‘We thank the organizers for the efforts made in effectively holding this activity. It is an initiative which aims to promote living together among young people, something that the ministry always encourages. Since the first edition, the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism has always supported Show Vacances Culture and this year again, I can reassure you of our support,’ confided the representative of the Minister of Culture, Hamidou Belem.
