The Rural World Association (AMR) initiated on April 27 and 28, 2023 in Gourcy, a capacity building workshop for the benefit of the members of the organizing committees of the Spaces for Dialogue and Community interpellation (EDIC) of its partner municipalities.
On April 27 and 28, 2023 in Gourcy, the Association Monde Rural (AMR) organized a capacity building session for the members of the organizing committees of the Community Dialogue and Interpellation Spaces (EDIC) of the municipalities of Korsimoro, Siglé , Soaw and Gourcy.
For the facilitator David Seth Worokuy, this activity is part of the implementation of the project “Strengthening the capacities of populations and local governments for a better appropriation of human rights, social cohesion, local governance and citizen participation in the North, Centre-North, East and Centre-West regions” with the financial support of the NGO Diakonia.
According to him, it aims to equip participants with the notions of accountability, citizen control and management of complaints in a context of insecurity marked by an encounter between host populations and internally displaced people.
For two days, the participants discussed the concept of the DTIS, its foundations, its approach, the different stages of its organization and also its contribution in terms of conflict prevention and the promotion of social cohesion in communities.
Communications on citizen control, complaint management and the role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in promoting social cohesion were also discussed before moving on to a simulation on holding a DTIS and registration of a complaint.

“Taking into account certain realities such as the security context, the AMR has developed other forms of accountability tools which are disseminated through the radio and the net, ” noted the facilitator David Seth Worokuy.
At the end of the discussions punctuated by group work and practical exercises, the participants from the EDIC committees resolved to play their part in the prevention of crises and conflicts by organizing themselves to take into account the citizen watch in their assignments.
