Côte d’Ivoire: Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema Holds Contest of Holy Quran Memorization and Recitation

Candidates, from all over the country competed in three categories: Ladies, Hafs and Warsh (Recitation styles). At the end of the competition, the jury announced contestant Wagué Abdoul Aziz as the winner of all categories.

In the Warsh category, the TOP 3 were Sylla Mohamed Tidiane (1st), Barry Aboubacar (2nd), Mohamed Camara (3rd). As for the Hafs category, the first place was taken by Wagué Abdoul Aziz, followed by Sow Ibrahim (2nd) and Dramé Adam (3rd).

In the Juz Amma (Ladies), the first place was awarded to Diarra Salima, followed by Doumbia Fatima (2nd), and Amina Berté (3rd).

The winner of each category will represent Côte d’Ivoire at the International Competition of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema.

Sheikh Moustapha Sonta, president of the Côte d’Ivoire section of the Foundation, welcomed the initiative of the Commander of the Faithful, HM the King Mohammed VI, aimed at promoting the Holy Quran in Africa, both among boys and girls.

Given the unstinted care HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful and President of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema, bestows to the Holy Quran and in accordance with the recommendations of the Foundation’s Higher Council, held at its second session in Fez in 2018, a competition in the memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran is taking place on annual basis at the level of all the sections of the Foundation.

Through this competition, the Foundation seeks to encourage African Muslim children and youth to take an interest in the Holy Quran, memorize it and declaim it. It also aims to encourage the mastery of the memorization of the Holy Quran with the application of the rules of psalmody.
