Constitutional Council: three new members take oath for a nine-year term

Ouagadougou: The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, guarantor of the independence of the judiciary, chaired this Monday morning, the solemn hearing for the swearing-in of three new members of the Constitutional Council, appointed for a term of nine years.

‘I swear to fulfill my functions well and faithfully, to exercise them with complete impartiality in compliance with the Constitution, to keep the secrecy of deliberations and votes, to take no public position and not to give any consultation on questions relating to of the competence of the Council.

It is by this formula that the new members of the Constitutional Council, François-Xavier KONSEIBO, retired economic affairs advisor, Fatimata SANOU née TOURE and Bessolé René BAGORO, both magistrates, took turns taking the oath before the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.

‘I take note of your oath and send you back to the exercise of your functions,’ indicated the Head of State, president of the solemn audi
ence, to the three new members of the Constitutional Council.

‘Dear new colleagues, you have just taken the oath to join the highest court of the State. It is the most sacred commitment to the Constitution. It is not only a formal act, but a solemn affirmation of your determination to preserve the constitutional order and to serve the law,’ said the President of the Constitutional Council Me Barthélémy KERE to his new colleagues, who received the congratulations of the Head of State.

According to Me KERE, by receiving the oath of new members, the President of the Transition thus marked his attachment to respecting the principle of three-year renewal of a third of the members of the Constitutional Council and therefore, to the continuity of the regular functioning of the institution.

He expressed all his gratitude and thanks to the President of the Transition for his availability and his commitment to the proper functioning of institutions and the strengthening of the rule of law.

on were awarded to the three outgoing members of the Constitutional Council for service rendered to the Nation; These are Mrs. Haridiata DAKOURE/SERE and Mr. Bouraïma CISSE and Victor KAFANDO.

The solemn swearing-in hearing was attended by the President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT), Dr Ousmane BOUGOUMA.
